Bad news/good news

 Bad news/good news

30 years old and have been on assorted medications ever since then to
control them.  I'm 6'2" & weigh 225, somewhat active (softball &
bowling, 2-3 times a week).

I went to my cardiologist last week for a change of BP prescription
(getting off Posicor, on to Avatar) and after running an EKG, he told me
that I'd had a heart attack.  He said he suspected a lot of scar tissue,
etc.  He gave me Nitrostat & Valium and scheduled tests for the
weekend.  After running an echocardiogram and stress test, he said that
I showed no sign of a heart attack.

Could the Posicor have skewed the results of the first EKG to lead him
to suspect damage?  Or are there other reasons?

On another note, during this stress test, and other stress tests I've
taken previously, my BP drops to normal after about 5-7 minutes on the
treadmill and continues in this direction as the test progresses.  Is
this normal?  If not, any ideas to why this happens?

Thanks to all,

Monroe

Sometimes changes on the EKG caused by left ventricular hypertrophy
(thickening of the heart from hypertension) can lead to the erroneous
conclusion that someone has suffered a heart attack.  These changes would not
be due to the Posicor because they invariable persist even after a change in
BP meds.
