 @Weight loss problem.

I am 6 feet tall and 6 weeks ago I weightd 250 pounds.  I have been
on a low calorie, low fat dies for these 6 weeks.  I lost down to 235
pounds in the first 3 weeks.  Now I am stuck at 235.  I eat from
1000-1500 calories per day.  Low fat, approx. 10-15 %.  I walk 1-2
miles every evening.  What is going on here?  Why am I not losing
weight?

The basic metabolic rate will decrease when you lose weight since
you will have less mass to carry around and less burning muscle mass.

You probably are eating significantly more than 1500 calories per
day but don't know it.

You might try weight resistance training.

 @Weight loss problem.
I, like you, went on a low fat diet a few years back. I started October 6 at
265 and on June 21st of the next year I was at 155 (and miserable). You will
reach spots where you level off for a bit and then you will drop quickly
again. Mine were usually at 15 to 20 lb intervals, like yours.

I don't suggest you do what I did, however. Work with a professional to find
the right weight for you and a sane plan to maintain that weight.

Regards

Glenn

I need to clear this statement up.

If I'd have kept on the low fat diet, I would've starved to death. My
grandmother was the daughter of an American Indian mother. They suspect
there is a "feast or famine" gene in some ethnic extractions which is
especially supportive of a low fat diet and contributive to problems like
late onset Diabetes.

The bottom line: Balance in all things.

Regards,

Glenn
