Hello Ash, Unlike the two previous posters I do not understand the
details you list regarding your echocardiogram but you say that you
are actually scheduled for your kidney transplant soon. This seems to
suggest that your doctors are happy to go ahead despite your heart
condition. Our two cases may not be comparable but I will tell you
about my experience in the hope that it gives you some encouragement.
I am 66 and had a TOE - like an echo but done via the oesophagus to
get a better picture of the heart. It showed significant mitral
stenosis/mild regurgutation, moderate aortic and tri-cuspid
regurgitation and estd.pulmonary artery pressure of 40-50mmHG. I was
scheduled for replacement MV but shortly afterwards recd an overdose
of warfarin. This error revealed bowel cancer. A eminent surgeon in
this field agreed to operate but insisted my heart was done first. The
heart surgeon disagreed. Upshot was that cancer was removed first, one
5 hr op and a 4 hr op 3 months later to close the stoma (it was an
early stage one) and heart surgery was done 15 months later
last Nov. I may need the aortic valve doing some time in the future
and the heart rate/rhythm has taken some time to settle but its so
important to be optimistic. The body can tolerate a lot more than we
can imagine. Hope you get your new kidney and all goes well. Diana
