...when applied to a wound?

And this reaction is particularly visible when hydrogen peroxide comes to
contact with {*filter*}, because high concentration of this enzyme, peroxidase,
is present in red {*filter*} cells (erythrocytes).

I don't think there's anything wrong with cleaning your wound with H2O2
though, since commercially a 3% solution of is available for that purpose.
There's no risk of major cell death involved with proper use.

Only a few years ago, a large number of women were using peroxide
to bleach their hair, 'bottle blondes' they were known as.   Were
these women doing something which would ruin their health?

I believe that it causes blindness if it gets in your eyes.  I guess that
could be considered a problem..

I find very useful for {*filter*}y nose.
In Melbourne the air pollution is very high, and I get easily
blocked nose. In winter this results in {*filter*}y nose.
I found that mixing a few drops of H2O2 in a 15ml bottle
of water, and putting a few drops of this in my nose
 stops {*filter*} very fast.
Of course it is a bit itching. But what to do else???

sorry but I am not very concerned with medicin. But what I have learned
at school about H2O2 was that it is said to cause cancer.

Does anybody have more information on this point.

As far as I remember, the cause was related to OH-radicals which come to
exist as a byproduct.

However, it is not my business, but I am using H2O2 for different
purposes, e.g. etching etc., and I like to get some information about
it.

 Commercial peroxide is available in various concentrations, from 10
 to 100 volume solutions.  Each ratio of peroxide to water is
 multiples of 6% peroxide per volume concentration.  The lower
 concentrations of 10 to 20 volume are considered safe for human
 hair.  The higher, from 30 to 100 volume are used soley for
 artificial and human hair wigs and hairpieces.  Peroxide is indeed,
 as was said, "very {*filter*} stuff" in that it is a powerful oxidizing
 agent and can cause severe burns and skin damage when handled
 improperly.  It's 'bubbling' action is the process of oxidation,
 and is effect 'burning' the surface it is in contact with.  The
 aforementioned peroxide solutions should be sold to and handled
 only by hair salon personnel.
