 >>>>>>>INFORMATION ON OFFSHORE MEDICAL SCHOOLS<<<<<<<

               >>>>>OFFSHORE MEDICAL SCHOOLS<<<<<
                    ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

In these times where everybody and their grandmother is applying to
medical school, it is important to realize that if you are serious about
pursuing a medical education, and willing to do whatever it takes, you
must EXERCISE ALL YOUR OPTIONS.  I stumbled upon this information and I
would like to pass it on to all the eager pre-meds out there who are
serious about pursuing medicine and are willing to exercise all their
options.  Keep in mind that EVERYONE, including the people in offshore
schools takes the USMLE (United States Medical Licensing Exam) and as
long as you pass all parts (there are 2 parts before you graduate and 1
part afterwards), you are no different than the person who went to
school in the states.  Here is a list of the schools outside of the
U.S. that accept American students, teach in English, and accept federal
financial aid programs.  Most of these schools have an American
correspondence office and most of them have 2 incoming classes, a fall
and a spring, so if you didn't get into a school for the Fall, you can
still apply to these schools to enter in the spring, something that
American schools don't do.  All of these schools are registered with the
U.S. Department of education and thus can participate in the Federal
Stafford Loan Programs.  Also most of these schools are owned by
Americans, so the teaching is modeled after the American system.  Here
is the list:

   - OK That's enough. Sorry Charlie, your are QUITE different. Ask any
RESIDENCY DIRECTOR where the foreign medical graduates applications go.
We JUST HAD A PRESENTATION by the HEAD of SURGERY RESIDENCIES here at the
University of Illinois. He had to stop himself because he about laughed
about these schools, but then recanted with  "wait a minute, yes, we DO
LOOK at EACH application individually, and if they are foreign med school
(read: OFF SHORE) graduates, well, if they are Nobel prize-winners, yes,
they can get ranked"... (unranked = no chance). But he kinda made it
clear they are put at the BOTTOM of the pile.

Where?

  - oh, gee, that's great. Isn't this the country whose doctors invite
cancer patients down for "alternative therapy", then give them milk
shakes made from calves liver? Oh, did I forget to mention, the livers
are expensive, so they are taken from calves that are aborted.
"Aborticus" is a bactertia that thrives in cows and causes the
spontaneous {*filter*}... the bacteria then infected these poor cancer
patients, some already immune-compromised from chemotherapy, and several
almost died.
   Great medicine in Mexico!

 - Yes, but it ISN'T the American system. You will never get the respect
or prestige you deserve by graduating from a foreign medical school.
Plus, that USMLE is waiting for you... it's tough enough being taught by
people on the cutting edhe of medicine in our Amaerican universities and
hospitals, in regular medical schools. I could imagine how hard it would
be taking that test after attending one of these "off shore" schools.

  Here ya go!

   - Yes, you'll need it. The bottom line: Put the nose to the
grindstone, drop everything else in your life, and CRAM for the MCAT. If
you also have a decent grade-point average, don't sweat... you'll get in
(to a REAL [American] medical school). If you can't, then maybe you
should take up law. The lawyers in med school tell me it is a LOT easier.
  Cheerio!  ;-)

Kids need the darndest things... like a little bit of YOUR {*filter*} to
survive Leukemia. Many die each day for lack of a perfectly matched
donor. Odds of matching: 1/20,000. Donating only hurts a tiny bit, but
not getting the marrow means almost certain DEATH to the recipient, and

may be someone JUST LIKE YOU (immunologically, anyway). Call
1-800-MARROW-2 for info. OK, I lied, it's bone marrow they need, not
{*filter*}... but it's given thru a 'SYRINGE'..."Painless"! I'm a registered
donor since 1990...Just DO IT!

BUT - I'm just wondering what people in the US of A think of graduates
from foreign medical schools such as
- Canada
- Australia
- England.

I don't really want to get into a debate about which system is the best
teaching system (well....  I wouldn't mind listening to opinions!!!!) but
rather what people think of us.

Till later.,.,.,.
