This is a fun factoid but doctors generally perform urgent life-saving
interventions even during the "strike".

This leaves the rest, including interventions that trade a one time short term
mortality for either a lengthening of life span if you get past the
intervention [example: excision of a slow-growing but fatal cancer] or a
greatly improved life [example: successful spinal surgery].

Medicine blows it sometimes, but reduced death rates during short doctors
strikes don't prove it.
