Specialist glut backlash

 Specialist glut backlash

        I've got a question:
I've been reading a lot of reports lately about how there
are too many specialists and not enough general internists. And
how people are now reconsidering becoming general internists
since the specialists are having difficulty finding jobs
(especially with the increase in managed care).
My question is this: Do you think that, down the road, so
many people are going to shoot for general internal medicine that
eventually there will be a dearth of specialists and a glut of
general internists?
I hope to go to medical school in the next couple of
years, and am curious if, by the time I get out, the tables will
be turned?
Thanks, Dave
