If the pharmaceuticals companies can develop a cork pill based on an
opioid molecule but NOT able to enter the brain (this pill is Immodium or
loperamide HCl 2mg BTW) to treat diahreah in much the same way {*filter*} was
once used...

could it be possible that in the near future there will be a "loperamide
antagonist" that could be coadministered with pain medication to prevent
such side effects, or at lessen their severity? I would think a
peripherial opiate-blocking agent would have valuable applications in
hospitals.

Probably be a hit on the street too, except in those already wickedly
{*filter*}ed...

Absolutely! I'm currently looking at the effects of opioids on
the male reproductive system (mainly in mice). Selective blocking agents
in this area might be able to prevent the inhibition of {*filter*} activity
that is commonly assciated with opiate use. Maybe in the future it will
be possible to maintain pain relief, keep those bowels moving and stay
interested in sex.
