A very dear friend of mine, female, white, aged late 50's?, who has
fibromyalgia, would like citations to any papers or journal articles or
solid research on the effects of long-term low dose prednisone on
osteoporosis.

I tried to access some of the medical data banks, but do not have the
experience to do so effectively.

Any citations, pointers, information, would be greatly appreciated by
my friend and myself.

prednisone and similar corticosteroids cause osteoporosis and can worsen
osteoporosis that may already exist in a postmenopausal woman. This is
probably most related to total cumulated dose but this is unclear.
I noted this is posted under fibromyalgia and steroids are not apprpriate
for fibromyalgia per se so I assume something else is going on.
