Can anybody tell me if Nitrous Oxide is readily available to the
public?  How does one obtain this laughing gas?

I believe that because of its analgesic properties, nitrous oxide is only
available to medical facilities, EMS, etc.

NO2(g) is used to compress whipped cream.  You can suck it out of a can
of Redi-Whip by holding it upright rather than inverted.  It is also
available in small cylinders for the same purpose. You should not use
this for recreational purposes.  The nitrous oxide that the dentist gives
you is mixed with O2.  If you hooked yourself up to 100% NO2 by mask, and
you became unconscious, the mask would continue to deliver NO2,
displacing O2, and it would probably kill you.

I believe it's denatured with a small amount of sulfur dioxide -
not pleasant to inhale.
