maber.. #1 / 6	Clonidine change I want to get on a different BP medication but want to continue using the clonidine I'm on now as it has cured my problems with insomnia. The clonidine makes me much too lethargic during the day. I'd like to continue using a single .1 to .2 mg clonidine before bed but for {filter} pressure would like to try something else in a one a day tablet. I've heard beta blockers should not be taken with clonidine? What types of BP medications would be safe to use in conjunction with the clonidine that I'll take at night? Are ace inhibitors ok, etc? Thanks.

Pierre #6 / 6	Clonidine change Well, for starters, I've been on clonidine with added diuretic, calcium channel blockers, ACE inhibitors, angiotensin II receptor blockers. Lots to choose from, and lots of different {filter} within each of those classes. Mixing a beta blocker with clonidine, while possible, is probably not advisable if it can be avoided, because both have CNS depressant effects to some degree. The best solution is to not be on clonidine at all though. Probably the single most hated BP med by people who have been on it!
