Spider bite?

 Spider bite?

Last week I was sweeping out my garage.  On my feet I wore sneakers
but no socks.  Several hours later my ankle had a sore red spot
and my leg began to ache very badly.  I was going to see a doctor
in the AM, but my leg felt better.  The spot is now itching (it is
5 days later) and I can see the small puncture.  My question is
what bit me?  I have heard that black widows' bites are
extremely painful.  I consulted several medical reference books'
sections on spider bites, and black widow bite seems in the realm
of possibility, but I felt better the next day.  I had assumed
that these bites caused problems for longer periods. What
bit me?
Just wondering, since the problem seems to be gone.  Thanks in
advance.

Definitely see a physician.  Some spider bites, such as the brown recluse,
can cause progressive tissue death over a period of weeks.  If you aren't
treated within a few days, you may wind up with a concave depression in
your leg.

I doubt it was a black widow, It probably was a mite.

What is the standard treatment for brown recluse bites? My understanding is
that the only thing they can do is give you antibiotics to prevent infection,
and hydrocoritsone for the tissue damage. The herbal remedies are said to work

far better to prevent tissue damage resulting directly from the bite.
