Mindy,
There are several things that can work with chronic pain. I know, I
have had it for many years. I am also a Nurse that has studies
complimentary therapies for years. Meditation is a wonderful healing
modality. Also, there is guided imagery, visualization, Therapeutic
Touch may be of some help, and there are more. Please contact me by
email and I can point you in a few different directions. A very good
book for learning techniques and dealing with chronic pain: Full
Catastrophe Living, Using the Wisdom of Your Body and Mind to Face
Stress, Pain, and Illness by Jon Kabat-Zinn, Ph.D. It is very
good. I have used some of his ideas in a support groups I run from
time to time with good results. Chronic pain can do many things to
wear down the body, mind, and spirit. He has one thing going for him,
however, he has your concern, and love. There are also things that
you could help him with.
Good luck. I wish you and him health
Susan
