According to my "Handbook of Chemistry and Physics", Germanium is an
element.  Its atomic number is 32.  This metal is found in argryodite -- a
sulfide of germanium and silver -- as well as germanite, zinc ores, coal,
and other minerals.  Certain germanium compounds have a low mammalian
toxicity, but a marked activity against certain bacteria; however, the
original poster listed a host of viral diseases this stuff was good for.
I have no clue whether the germanium compound will work as the original
poster advertized.
