Arthritis drug 'can cause stomach problems'

US researchers have found that anti-inflammatory {*filter*}
used to treat conditions such as arthritis may be more
damaging to the gastrointestinal tract than previously
thought.

Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory {*filter*} (NSAIDs) are
designed to reduce pain and inflammation by acting on
chemicals in the body called prostaglandins. These
chemicals are also present in the stomach, which means
that NSAIDs can cause indigestion and other stomach
problems.

Researchers from the Baylor College of Medicine in
Houston, Texas, used a tiny pill-size camera to examine . . .
