Whoa! Hold on there a minute Sam. Lupus does not usually lead to death
these days. The disease is highly variable in its presentation, and most
people with it lead normal lives. The most common thing it causes is sore
joints. Other problems include skin rashes, kidney disease, central
nervous system involvement (seizures), and a multitude of other symptoms.
Generally, much of this can be controlled medically. Probably the most
life-threatening complication is the kidney disease, but again this is
highly variable in its presentation, from mild to rapidly progressive.
