Post Surgical Pain Management and Grief

How can acute post-surgical pain be relieved
when traditional analgesia is ineffective and
pain percetption is affected by recent bereavement?

In particular, I am researching answers to this
question in the context of a Mother who has lost
her child to SIDS (Cot Death), and is in acute
pain as  a result of caesarian section surgery,
and who is not bonding with her new-born child.

        Thank you for your time,

Not yet classical treatment would consist of a PCA device which will let
the patient control the level of pain relief necessary. you will find
heaps of information with the companies like ABBOTT or BARD medical or
BAXTER....
An alternative to this would be prolonged epidural treatment, if necessary
with PCEA wich is becoming very popular in EUROPE.
