 Lung problem information sought

Can anyone direct me to relevant sources of information? I have
downloaded the recent "Reading and Resource List" in alt.support
asthma, and have read a lot else besides, but still have many
unaswered questions.  I have a lung condition which is strictly
related to exertion (even very mild exertion) and not at all to
external substances, i.e. I do not have allergies.  Cold weather (I'm
in Canada) is also stressful.

There is a solid recoverable component so I am very responsive to
bronchodilators.  I currently use Theodur, Becloforte, Atrovent and
Berotec (U.S. names for these may differ).  The condition started
very suddenly over 10 years ago when I was 50.  There was no history
of any lung problems before that.

Originally I was diagnosed as "{*filter*} onset asthma".  More recently, I
am told I have COPD.  My condition seems to have components of both
and I would just like to understand the condition better than I now
do.  I am not at all reluctant to read highly technical scientific
and medical literature.  My medical support persons seem too busy to
ever give me sufficient time toward a more thorough understanding.

Any suggestions about sources for further understanding will be
highly appreciated.  Email preferred as I do not access the newgroups
systematically.

"Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease" is really a general term
for the obstruction of air flow through the breathing passages, and
could be a result of chronic bronchitis, emphysema, or both.

COPD is Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease and generally refers to chronic
bronchitis and emphysema and other lung diseases that interfer with
pulmonary air exchange.
