 Organophosphates

Sorry if this has been asked before. Can anyone please point me in the
direction of a newsgroup or web page dealing with organophosphate
poisoning in humans, preferably with contact points with support groups
for sufferers. Any help/advice from UK health professionals with
knowledge of this area would be particularly welcome.

TIA

Hugh

Organophosphate pesticides tend to be acutely toxic (though the toxicity
to humans depends greatly on the particular compound), but if you don't
die, they don't have particularly well-defined sequelae.  There is a
an organophosphate compound, triorthocresylphosphate, which is not
(strictly speaking) a pesticide, which can cause a syndrome of poly-
neuritis and demyelination, causing deficits which can persist for
a long time.  Some of the more toxic nerve gases can also produce
this syndrome.  This appears not to be due to cholinesterase inhibition.
