 Major Depression and Psychosis!!!

A patient is diagnosed with major depression and psychosis.  He is
currently taking Riserdal(?) for psychosis, Anafranil(?) for depression
and benydril(?) for sleep.  Is is a good therapy?  He is taking it for
more then three months.  Before that he was on other medications but he
is doing somewhat better now but still hears voices.  Is there any
better therapy for this patient if yes what are the recommondations to
be discussed with the patient's doc.

Will hearing voices, psychosis, vanish eventually and what about major
depression.

Dose caffeine, like coffee or tea, interfere with the effect of those
medications mentioned above because the patient says that after having a
cup of tea or a can of pop he wakes up two to three hrs early then
usual.  And sleep is the A1 part of treatment for this patient.  The
night he doesn't sleep well then during the day he really behaves
abnormally.

Any comments please.

MN,  The doses of the agents taken is a critical piece of information.
Also the exact diagnosis is important, because Anafranil is often used
for people with obsessive-compulsive disorder, too.  The Benadryl is
more likely being used to try to offset side-effects of Risperidol.
