 Reflux and gallbladder problems

Is there any relationship between severe
reflux and gallbladder problems?  I've
suffered reflux for three years and lately
it has gotten so bad I can't eat anything
without getting it.  Last week I began to get
gall bladder attacks shortly after eating.

They did an ultrasound and found that I do
indeed have gallbladder problems.  They
didn't see stones, but they did refer me
to a surgeon.

The gall bladder pain falls within a predictable
pain scheme.  I get it soon after eating, and
when it subsides the reflux pain immediately
kicks in to a scary degree.

What kind of reflux ? Gastro-esophageal and/or duodeno-gastric
(biliary) reflux ?

Referring to surgery without any attempt to handle it conservatively
is crude, I think.

I had several patients with GERD - without any bladder problem.
The association between the gastrointestinal and urinary tract smooth
muscle motor dysfunction sound plausible - both disorders being
functional.
Have you ever tried some prokinetic {*filter*} like cisaprid (e.g.
Coordinax/Astra) ? The problem is that GERD should be treated not only
with prokinetic preparation but to reduce acid attack in the esophagus
with strong blocking of gastric acid synthesis (e.g. omeprazole,
Prolosec/Astra) as well.
[I am not a sales representative of Astra ! In Hungary these two
chemical entities are offered by the swedish company only]

 Reflux and gallbladder problems

Both reflux and gallbladder disease are very common problems. So,
it wouldn't be too unusual to have both. I'm confused by your
statement that your gallbladder didn't have stones, but was
abnormal. Can you elaborate on what was seen?
