 T4,Thyroid, need info

I need some general information on hypothyroidism and more specifically
info re:

1. Can there be individual variations in what would be considered
'normal'values. ie. low normal could be clinically too low as person
normally has higher T4?

2. What if T4 is below normal values but TSH is within normal range?
Are there some conditions where TSH is 'blunted'and person actually
hypothyroid?  ( assuming pt is not on any other medications)

Any info or direction to references would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.
K

Re #1: The TSH llevel would indicate if the T$ level is appropriate for that individual.  A low normal T$ with a normal TSH
indicates that the thyrooid level is nromal for that person, etc.

Re#2: A low thyroid binding protein (TBG) will cause a low total T$, but if the TSH and freeT$ are normal, teh individual is
euthyroid.
