Advice wanted: liver problem?
My brother-in-law has been feeling sick for a few months and had a
{*filter*} test, which showed he was mildly jaundiced. He'd had
a {*filter*} test about 1 year ago which showed his liver enzymes (or
whatever, pardon the lack of knowledge!) were only just in the
normal range. So this imbalance has been around a while, but he's
only just started feeling sick these last few months. He says he
has a slight pain/tension around/below his stomach. He's been treated
for Giardia, but no effect, and the Dr now has him on some antacid
in case its an ulcer. He had an ultrasound which was clear. As an
aside, he's always had floating stools, which I thought might be
due to malabsorption of fat and perhaps a problem with his gall
bladder, which is the only reason I mention it now. Apart from these
symptoms he is very healthy. He is pretty well a complete ovo-lacto-
vegetarian too, which I would have thought would make gall stones
unlikely?
I'd be interested to hear any thoughts on the above. The
Dr said to leave it for a few weeks whilst taking the antacid to see
if it clears up, but he's felt sick for a few months now. His
condition does not change with eating or any other factor as far as
we can tell.
Thanks in advance for any info.
