I have a friend with rheumatoid arthritis (RA).  She says RA lowers one's
life expectancy by a significant number of years.  Another friend is a
physician.  He says RA doesn't lower life expectancy all that much.
Could someone be more precise than "a significant number of years" or
"not all that much?"
