 Need Diet Information- Kidney Failure

My husband is a diabetic.  His kidney function is starting to slow
down.  Right now he is retaining Phosphorus... the Bun and Creatine
counts are high.  I would like information on what foods we need to
avoid entirely, what foods are actually good for him and he should eat
alot of and what foods are OK in moderation.

Our doctor isn't giving us enough information on the dietary aspects of
this.  I know with cats diet is a big deal as renal failure is a major
problem with cats.

Any help would be appreciated.

Please e-mail as well as posting your response.

Thank you.

Frances

Consider reducing protein concumption to RDA levels and avoiding all use
of acetaminophen.
Supplementation of the amino acid taurine may help. That amino acid is
very necessary for cats.
