Highly resistant to pain killers -- medical terminology?

Highly resistant to pain killers -- medical terminology?

Both my mother and I are highly resistant to pain killers; that is, it usually
takes almost double the normal dose of anesthetic to have any effect on us.
This leads to problems at the dentist, etc.,  because most doctors won't
take us at our word about this condition.

Question: What is the correct medical term for this condition?
Question: What is the best way to get doctors to believe us?

Thanks for any help,
Todd Wallace

I've had trouble at the dentist but it has to do with epinephrine not the
pain killer. Usually the painkiller dissipates to rapidly. With enough
epinephrine the anesthetic doesn't dissipate and stays where it's supposed
to, doing what it's supposed to.
