(Q) Neuralgia from botched draw of blood?
Went for routine {*filter*} work and during the search for a
good vein in my arm from which to draw {*filter*}, an attempt
was made towards the inside of my right arm about 2 inches
above the wrist. I felt a sharp searing pain and my hand
jumped twice involuntarily.
Approximately 24 hours later, the area became sensitive
to the touch and when touched even lightly I felt a sensation
going from that area to between my 1st and 2nd fingers.
This has continued for the past 72 hours. A harder touch
can ead to a stronger sensation much like hitting one's
elbow on a sharp corner.
Being 4th of July weekend my DR has been unavailable
however I will be in contact wth her early tomorrow.
In the meantime, I am reading rather disturbing entries
about neuralgia.
I have to assume a nerve in that area was affected/
disturbed by the needle.
What should I be doing to aid the recovery -
heat, cold, aspirin, rest?
I have yet to find specific information on this topic.
Any help out there?
