About the Etruscan Inscription TLE 209 (Was : Etruscan Numbers)
Thanks to Douglas G. Kilday who called my attention on the Etruscan
Inscription TLE 209, I believe that a progress can be made concerning
its interpretation.

This inscription is SIMILAR to the Inscriptions TLE 207 and TLE 208.
The three seem to have been written by the same scribe, and one has
the right to believe that their content must be also similar.

a)- Inscription TLE 208 is the one related to the two Dioscuroi, and
I've already given its translation : "The two (thu) Saviors (luter)".
b)- Inscription TLE 207 is written at the base of a goddess, supposed
to be Minerva by most Etruscologists.
c)- As a consequence, one may deduce that the TWO <hus'ur> , whose
only the feet have not been destroyed, must be also RELATED to the
ETRUSCAN MYTHOLOGY.

The use of the word <hus'ur> is strange, as I have shown that this
word designate "illegitimate children" (by opposition to <clenar>). On
the other hand, WHO can be this "Uitanice" , whose they are the sons
?...

The solution I am proposing is the following :
"Uitanice" would come from the Proto-IE root *WeDh- : "fiance, future
bride". This root has given in IE words like Lituanian "vedamu" (same
meaning) or Homeric "eFedn?ts" = "father of the future bride".
Then, I believe that "Uitanice" is the equivalent of "Leda" in the
Greek Legend  : Leda was the spouse of Tyndare, and gave him two
legitimate (clenar) children, Castor and Clytemnestra. But, seduced by
Zeus, she begat two ILLEGITIMATE children (hus'ur),  Pollux and Helen.
The  remaining feet would be, then, the ones of Pollux and Helen, and
the Inscription TLE 209 should be translated : "(Illegitimate)
CHILDREN of LEDA" !...

There is some phonetic similarity between Leda and Etruscan
<Ueta-(ni-ce)> ,  but if there has been a loan from some Proto-IE
language, it has been made by the Greeks, not by the Etruscans!...

Regards to all !
